The Association aims to rebuild, to conserve and to develope forests, which are seen as irreplaceable natural and cultural heritage. In this way the association is undertaking varoius activities in order to protect the ecological complexity of forests and their landscape values. They have also the social dimension in mind when they are seeing forests as areas of sustainable enjoyment by present and future populations.
The Valminho Forest is a private nonprofit association, which was incorporated on May 14, 1996.
Their activities cover an area of six municipalities within the Minho Valley: Caminha, Melgaço, Monção, Paredes de Coura, Valença and Vila Nova de Cerveira. The office is currently based in Valença. The association has a staff consisting of three licensed forest professionals and four teams of forest fire fighters.
