We, the Professional Association of Nature Conservation to strengthen the reputation of the professional nature conservation in the society and promote nature conservation and landscape care related tasks in a uniform way in Germany and in Europe.

We are committed to certainly

• the development of necessary legal foundations,
• modern working methods and their practical application,
• a high-quality vocational and academic training,
• the current qualification through training and continuing education programs and
• strengthening the image and acceptance of nature conservation and landscape management in society.

To achieve our objectives, we take a position on relevant policy and technical developments, political and professional support to our members in fulfilling their professional duties. We promote the dialogue between science, professional practice, associations and political actors. We help our personal members, regional groups, working groups and member associations actively to the creation of necessary networks in nature conservation.

To take position on nature conservation policy and to foster exchange between professionals the German Nature Conservation Day(s) (Deutscher Naturschutztag, DNT) have been used since 1925. The BBN organise this bi-anual event together with the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation, the German League for Nature and Environment (Deutscher Naturschutz Ring, DNR) and the hosting bundesland. The DNT is the central congress of the state and private conservation agencies in Germany.
