Since the 1990’s Landschapsbeheer Flevoland has been involved, as a non-governmental organisation (NGO), in countryside and urban nature-management in county Flevoland (Netherlands). We contribute to the preservation, management and development of nature outside of its natural areas, such as urban nature. To succeed in doing this we use our knowledge, expertise and manpower. The latter is formed by an increasing group of around 3000 conservation volunteers and with their help we make an important contribution to the preservation of the natural landscape of Flevoland.
The organisation is not a landowner. As a result, we team up with farmers, other private owners, companies, foundations, county and municipal councils, water control boards, other NGO’s dedicated to conservation of green spaces and many local volunteer groups. Together with these landowners we put ideas to practice by developing projects that agree with existing governmental policies or projects that help to develop a new governmental policy. In addition, we help to implement and deploy these projects in the field.
During field work we are supported by the many volunteers. Each contribution is welcome and many hands make light work. We strive to engage as many people in Flevoland as possible to actively participate in conservation of natural spaces in their own living areas.
