he Heritage Association presents itself in different ways in the public. They strive for political influence and therefore to control ominous developments, such as recently the unbridled overbuilding, the much to generous approval of wind turbines and the momentous reduction of monument financial resources. Their annual International Youth Camp, the workcamp of the Service Civil International, brings youth closer to the practical landscape work and promotes international understanding. The association awards the cultural landscape prize together with the Savings Banks Association of Baden-Württemberg for services to the historic cultural landscape and the revival of traditional landscape.
Heimat (Home, local heritage and identity) is people and culture, nature and landscape, past and present life. But home should have a future as well. Therefore the Schwäbische Heimatbund promotes the preservation, exploration, development as well as designing of the country.
The Schwäbische Heimatbund e.V. is an association with history and experience. Its main goal is to obtain living spaces that are likewise liveable for humans and animals. Especially in consideration of an increasing land consumption and neglect of cultural monuments, this task is of rising importance.
Schwäbische Heimatbund’s work is founded on three key pillars: monument conservation, nature conservation and regional history. In addition the association is publishing a journal called ‘Schwäbische Heimat’ and awarding prizes to oustanding projects and private initiatives that deal with monument and/or nature conservation.
