The HVNL has about 250 members in Hesse. The broad spectrum of work covers and corresponds with the obectives of the Bundesverband Beruflicher Naturschutz e.V. (B.B.N.). The Hessische Vereinigung für Naturschutz und Landschaftspflege wants to ensure and enhance a good professionell quality in this field of work.

The HVNL forms a forum for the required exchange of knowledge and experience to develop new sustainable ideas, strategies and solutions for nature protections and landscape conservation. One of the main aspects of HVNL’s work ist the assurance of governmental instruments, the ensuring of the achieved professional standards and the development of an efficient implementation. At the same time the association promotes an adequate reward for the employees to ensure the required standards in future. The HVNL keeps a critical eye on the drastic reformations that where implemented in national and regional services during the last years as well as revisions of statutes to ensure the interests of the employed conservationists. Furthermore the HVNL organises workshop discussions and fora on a regular base as well as conferences and symposia on different topics. The HVNL is representen in the various official national committees, e.g. in the Chamber of Architects and urban planners (Architekten- und Stadtplanerkammer), Chamber of ingenieurs (Ingenieukammer), in the nature conversation academy and the Stiftung Hessischer Naturschutz. The HVNL cultivates a good cooperation with the VHÖ and the BDLA and the registered nature conservation organisations in Hesse. THE HVNL is in close contact to the Hessian administration.
