Schleswig-Holsteinischer Heimatbund (SHHB)Schleswig-Holstein Heritage Association

The Schleswig-Holstein Heritage Association is a membership organization that can speak for approximately 55,000 members in local, district and regional (in German ‘Landschaften’) associations. Their objective is to support the independence and self-employment of the member associations and of course, also like the incorporated youth organization, as a training facility for the purposes of supplementary education. They address to the citizens, to associations, schools, universities, colleges, and theaters. The research areas, which are managed by full-time lecturers include, Low German and Frisian, costumes and folk dance, the environment and landscape, folklore, cross-border activities, construction and historic preservation, and the publication of yearbooks and magazines.
